Ingredients

250 gms Boneless Chicken pieces
1 Potato (big)
1 Onion (medium)
1/2 cup Grated Coconut
5 Green chillies
2 tsp Ginger paste
2 tsp Garlic paste
10 Curry leaves
1 tsp Garam masala
1/2 tsp Chilli powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
2 Eggs
1 Tbsp Salt
350 gms Oil
1 Tbsp Oil

Preparation

  1. Cook the Chicken pieces with little water and salt.
  2. Meanwhile, pressure cook the potato.
  3. When Chicken cools down, mince it using a blender or a mixie, without adding any additional water.
  4. When the potato cools down, mash it.
  5. Cut the Onions and Green Chillies into very thin slices.
  6. Cut Curry leaves into small pieces.

Cooking Method

  1. Heat a Tbsp Oil in a pan.
  2. When the oil is hot, add Onions.
  3. After Onions become transparent, add Ginger, Garlic paste, Curry leaves, Green Chilli pieces, and Turmeric powder.
  4. Fry for an additional minute.
  5. Add the grated Coconut and fry till it turns brown.
  6. Lastly, add garam masala and fry for another minute.
  7. When they cool down, add the minced Chicken and mashed Potato. Add salt to this and mix well.
  8. Heat the oil in a frying pan.
  9. Shape these into round flat cutlets.
  10. Using an egg beater, beat the eggs.
  11. Dip the cutlets in this and deep fry in oil.

Tips

  • Use a ricer to mash the Potato. This way you can avoid lumps.
  • Don't put Potato in a blender or mixie. The result will be gummy.
  • Instead of buying Chicken pieces, buy minced Chicken.
  • Taste the first Cutlet and adjust the ingredients.

For a low fat dish

  • Don't add Coconut.
  • Use only Egg whites.
  • Instead of deep frying, shallow fry them i.e. fry them in a skillet and add little oil around them.

Serving Tips

Serve them with Tomato ketchup or Green Chutney.
