Food Raw Banana Curry Ingredients
1 Raw banana for cooking
3 small green chillies
1/4 cup grated coconut
5 to 10 curry leaves
1/2 tsp Mustard
1/2 tsp Jeera
1 tsp Broken Urad Dal
1 Tbsp Lime/ Lemon juice
2 Tbsp Oil
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1/8 tsp Asafoetida
2-3 cups of Water to boil Preparation
- Cut the bananas into half.
- In a big bowl, add sufficient water and bring it to boil.
- Boil the bananas for just five minutes on high flame.
- Remove from fire and let it cool.
- Remove the banana skin and grate it.
- Mix salt and keep it aside.
Cooking Method
- Heat a frying pan on medium to low medium heat.
- When hot, add sufficient oil.
- When oil is hot, add jeera and mustard.
- When the mustard pops, add urad dal.
- Half way into the frying, add chopped green chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida.
- Add the grated banana, fry about a minute, and switch off the flame.
- Add grated coconut and lemon juice and mix it.
Tips
- Make sure that you don't over cook the bananas. Other wise you may not be able to grate it.
- Add asafoetida in hot oil to avoid raw smell.
- To avoid sticking, do not mix the grated banana vigorously.
Serving Ideas
Serve it with Sambar rice, Rasam Rice or simply with curd/ yogurt rice.
