"Everyone Who Runs Away From Home Does Not Become a Hero" - Srikanth

All artists who came into the film industry as villains and turned into heroes are leading their careers very successfully in the industry. From Chiranjeevi to Rajnikanth, all of them started their careers as villains but are now very successful heroes. Srikanth has just joined the above list. In his early stages of career, Srikanth used to act in ordinary roles but in a very short period of time, he has emerged as a successful hero. Trained in film institute and tasted success in Telugu film industry, Srikanth spoke his heart on his career, personal matters and his feelings in Hamarashehar.com's special interview.

Why did you think of coming into films alone?

It was due to Chiranjeevi inspiration that I came into films.

Do you mean that Chiranjeevi asked you to join films?

No, No. It was his influence on me that brought me to the films.

What is your family background?

My family's basic occupation was farming. Our family did not have any relation with the film industry.

You came from Karnataka, then why you did not join to Kannada film industry?

I am a Telugu person. That is the reason why I was so desperate to become a Telugu artiste.

What is your basic qualification?

Bachelor of Commerce.

In which year did you come into the industry?

Approximately in 1989-90.

Did you take any training in acting?

I joined Madhu Film Institute and took basic training in acting. I was in the seventh batch of the institute.

Who is your Favourite Hero?

Who else! It is Chiranjeevi.

Who is your favourite heroine?

Sridevi.

Who is your favourite comedian?

Relangi in the older generation and Brahmanandam in the present generation of actors (comedians).

Who is your favourite Villain?

R. Nageshwar Rao.

Your Inspirational Movie?

Khaidi (Prisoner).

What do you feel about dating?

I hate dating. I like or am crazy about our culture.

Do you believe in God?

Yes, I strongly believe in God.

You believe in hard work or luck?

I believe in both of them. If you work hard, luck will automatically follow.

Are you planning to make any movie?

I don't have any plans as of now. I can't tell about the future.

Did you ever regret your decision of coming into film industry?

No, Infact I am very happy to be in this Industry. I am very lucky, this gives me full satisfaction.

Don't you feel that the percentage of viewers has come down drastically?

Viewers are only coming to the theatre to see very good movies, but I don't agree that the percentage of viewers has come down drastically. Infact viewers watching Television have increased (i.e. SITI CABLE).

They think that we are copying English movies....

You should ask this question to writers and directors.

Does the industry status fetching any think to the Industry?

As far as my knowledge is concerned there is no financial support coming from any institute.

Why we are not able to compete with the foreign films?

We don't have the range of market which they have, and more over they are technically, more advanced than us.

Whom do you blame for the present state of affairs in Telugu film industry? We used to make 200 films and now we are making only 50 films.

Everybody is responsible for it.

What do you mean?

I don't want to enter into any controversy.

Do you think that Telugu film industry can make 3D and animation movies?

I don't know much about it.

What you have learned from failures in life?

It has helped me, infact taught me to be very patient, sensible and responsible. I think I have become quite mature now.

What about your success?

They have taught me to be more sensible and feel more responsible about my work. I feel that success is more dangerous compared to failure.

How is your family life with Oaha?

I am very happy.

Will Oaha act again in films?

I don't have any problems but I suppose Oaha is not interested.

What is your future plan?

I don't have any specific plan. I want to prove my self as versatile actor. I want to satisfy my fans and infact I want to act in Bollywood movies in the future.

What do you think when you look back at your 10 years career?

It looks quite surprising. I had worked hard to reach this stage. I am not satisfied with my movies but I have gained self-satisfaction.

What would you advise the people who are interested to come into film industry as a hero?

We can't tell anybody luck. As far as I am concerned, I ran away from home to come to this Industry. At the same time all the people who run away from home do not become heros. I worked hard and with some luck, I reached this stage. So, please decide and plan before you come to this Industry.

What do you think about Websites?

I feel that there will be more and more Websites coming in the future. At last I want to tell you something. Today in journalism we find some sad theories coming up. There should be no difference of opinion between the press and industry. I am very happy that I have met people all over the world through this Interview.
